Notes from Molly:
When I saw Lisa Kron’s play, I knew that we
just had to produce this wildly funny and
inventive work at Arena. Aside from being
hilarious, Well is a perceptive look at
Mother/Daughter relations that will resonate
with every parent and every grown-up child.
It also takes a comical look at the
conventions of theater – the line between
performance and “reality” is constantly
crossed as the play explores the dynamics of
health, family and community.

September 14 through October 14, 2007
in the Fichandler Mother knows best in a hilarious and
moving Tony Award-nominated comedy about

Things spin into riotously comic territory
as her mom continually interrupts the proceedings
to set the record straight. Other actors,
employed by Lisa to help tell her tale,
stage a comedic coup d’état, ultimately
siding with her mom’s version of events.
Even a bully from Lisa's elementary school
days barges into the narrative. During its
acclaimed Broadway run, The New York Times
described Lisa Kron’s work as “something
magical” and a “deeply affecting play
that has a warmth and accessibility that
makes you want to recommend it to everyone.”
