Notes from Molly: Jim Magruder’s profoundly moving reinvention of A Christmas Carol is about Washington, D.C. people, places and events during a challenging time in our history. In fact, Jim based the Schroens (his version of the Cratchits) on his own maternal grandparents, who lived near the Navy Yard. Jim’s masterful recreation of a well-known tale takes us into delightful and unexpected new territory as Strube learns the importance of shared sacrifice for a just cause.
