USHERS NEEDED FOR RED

Dear Arena Stage Usher,

As you may have already read, due to heavy sales, the production of Red has been extended by one week and will now close March 11, 2012. We are in desperate need for additional ushers during this extension. We would like to ask our usher corps to add a second date to their current schedule. I understand it means coming twice for this production, but we have no ushers currently scheduled for the week of March 6–11 and need a minimum of 24 ushers per performance. If you were not originally able to schedule a date for this production, now is your chance to do so and see an incredible production. To add a date go to the Usher Exchange Form and add the date of your choice.

The dates we need are:
Tuesday, March 6 – 7:30 p.m. performance
Wednesday, March 7 – 7:30 p.m. performance
Thursday, March 8 – 8:00 p.m. performance
Friday, March 9 – 8:00 p.m. performance
Saturday, March 10 – 2:00 p.m. matinee performance
Saturday, March 10 – 8:00 p.m. performance
Sunday, March 11 – 2:00 p.m. matinee performance
Sunday, March 11 – 7:30 p.m. performance

(Please do not exchange one date for another, as this would only leave us short on your original scheduled usher date. Exchange only if you already know you will not be able to attend your current date.)

We look forward to seeing you at the Mead Center for American Theater!

Thank you for all that you do!

A visceral, “superbly taut” (Chicago Tribune) battle of wills, Red drops you squarely inside the world of painter Mark Rothko and sets your heart pounding. At the height of his career, Rothko struggles with a series of grand-scale paintings for NY’s elite Four Seasons restaurant. When his new assistant challenges his artistic integrity, Rothko must confront his own demons or be crushed by the ever-changing art world he helped create.

Elephant RoomJAN 20 – FEB 26, 2012

a co-premiere between the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival, Philadelphia, PA and Arena Stage, Washington, D.C.

Imaginative Theatricality
Combine the glory of a Styx reunion tour, with the transcendental power of a 200-year-old Zuni shaman and add a dash of trailer park ennui and you come close to describing the mystical pull of a trip to the Elephant Room. From the uninhibited, "engaging" (Washington Post) absurdist performance duo Rainpan 43 and actor-magician Steve Cuiffo comes a new theatrical event. Filled with off-the-wall magic and sublime comedy, Elephant Room examines the childlike wonder of three deluded illusionists who choose to live their off-center lives by sleight of hand.
