Chief Development Officer
Arena Stage, an award-winning regional theater now in its 57th season, seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to lead its fundraising efforts during this exciting time in its history. The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for the successful completion of the Next Stage Campaign and the elevation of the Annual Fund to a new level.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the completion of the final phase of Arena’s $125M campaign to build a new artistic home. Grow Arena’s $3.5M Annual Fund which includes contributed income from individual, foundation, corporate, and government sources, as well as special events. Develop, monitor, and analyze departmental goals. Personally identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts ranging $10K and up for the Annual Fund and $50K and up for the Campaign from a personal portfolio of 50 to 100 donors. Manage staff of 10 and departmental budget. Work closely with other members of Arena’s senior management team and the Board of Trustees to develop fundraising strategies to meet organizational objectives. Act as the primary advisor to the Executive Director, Artistic Director, and Director of External Affairs in managing their respective fundraising portfolios. Manage the work of professional fundraising consultants.

Requirements:
BA degree; at least 10 years of fundraising experience with substantial campaign experience; proven track record of developing and implementing fundraising strategies; significant experience supervising and motivating a large staff; proven track record of securing major gifts. The candidate must possess excellent strategic, organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Ideal candidate will have outstanding financial management and analytical skills. Demonstrated success in building relationships with volunteer Boards and committees is essential. Experience with donor software is necessary; ProVenue is a plus. Arts background preferred; however, a commitment to Arena’s mission is a must.
